Travel Agent Companies
The obvious consequence of booking your vacations online is that travel agents are used less and less. There are many websites that help people find the best deals and allow you to make all of your plans through their sites without ever needing to speak to a real person. Unlike most people, I still enjoy using a travel agent and talking to a real person and I can’t see that changing; however, I also enjoy doing my research using the internet so I have a good idea of just what the resort is like that I am going too.
The internet is ideal for this and it I amazing just how much you can learn from it; I am even able to know how much it will cost before I see my travel agent. Part of the problem is that they are often only perceived as a person who just books vacations when they are actually able to do so much more for you, like answering specific travel questions. They are particularly useful when you intend to travel outside of the United States and can help with any laws that might be relevant to where you’re going.
Some countries actually charge a fee to enter and also have restrictions about what you can take in and take out which aren’t usually publicized very well and easy to miss. Whereas the internet is about saving money and convenience, your travel representative is there to ensure you trip is trouble free and that everything you need is organized. Although I do not have any real problem with the internet it is the human approach that I prefer. It is an unfortunate fact that you cannot complain to the internet but you can to your travel agent; it may take a very long time before the internet can supply that sort of service. A few years ago when my husband to be and I decided to elope and get married, it was a real travel agent that helped make it all possible.
The lady was very pleasant and couldn’t be more helpful so after a half hour chat I had a good idea where the best place for weather on our wedding was as well as a range of other services we might need. Her help included things I hadn’t even asked her and she managed to provide us with an accurate costing which was a very important issue. As she was so quick to get all this done we decided to book the wedding and honeymoon almost straight away. I’m also a fan of travel agents over using the internet because if you end up booking the vacation from hell, you have no one to blame but yourself whereas if you used a travel agency, at least you’ll have someone to complain too.
